A post-apocalyptic run-and-gun

Machines rule the world and the few humans left are hiding, hunted by an AI-controlled robot army. When a small rebel group gets intel about a big AI power plant, the machines strike their camp before they can organize. A small group escapes and sets out on a suicide mission to destroy that power plant. You play as Mavra, a human resistance soldier, or Doyle, an insurgent robot, and blast through 5 apocalyptic environments filled with hundreds of robots to blow to pieces. Expect heavy casualties, mechanical bosses, hoverbikes, jetpacks, huge armors and a whole arsenal of weapons along the way.

Playing together

Blazing Chrome has local co-op, so you and a friend can take the mission on side by side. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets someone join in over a connection even if they do not own the game. Pick your characters, keep each other standing through the robot hordes, and share the boss fights.

Before you start

This is a fast-paced side scroller with an arcade feel and a genuine run-and-gun pace, so expect constant shooting and quick movement rather than slow exploration. The tag list marks it as difficult, and the story is built around a suicide mission with heavy casualties, so deaths are part of the deal. The game runs in 16-bits post-apocalyptic environments with rad pixel art and a soundtrack tagged as great, which sets the retro tone from the first stage.
