What Blacktop Hoops is

Blacktop Hoops is a VR basketball game built around streetball. You play in first person with VR controls for shooting, dribbling, dunking and defending, and the game leans on physics so the ball behaves like a real object in your hands. The look is stylized and colorful with a comic book feel, and there are 8 courts set in places like Oakland, Los Angeles, New York City and Athens. Alongside the arcade side there is a career mode with a narrative journey, streetball bosses to beat and a path to becoming a legend. If you would rather just shoot around, training mode is there for solo practice.

Playing together

Online play covers pickup matches in 1v1, 2vs2, 3vs3 and 4vs4, so a group can split into teams and run games against each other, with rankings to climb if you want to get competitive. There are also online parks meant for hanging out with friends and making new ones, which suits a more laid-back session. If your group is short on people, you can play 2vs2 against AI bots instead. CourtCam mode gives you a casual third person view rather than the standard first person perspective.

Before you start

Character creation is a big part of it: over 600 cosmetics from sunglasses to sneakers, with millions of possible combinations, so everyone can show up looking different. Modifiers change the feel of a match — slow motion, big head, mega jump, chicken ball and giant opponents are among them, and they are the easiest way to turn a serious game into something silly. Expect a mix of skill-based play and physics-driven chaos; the controls reward practice, but the modifiers and casual courts keep things loose for a group that just wants to play a few games together.
