A retro basketball sandbox
Hoop Land is a 2D basketball sim built in the style of old-school hoops games, with modernized play underneath. Games can be played, spectated, or simulated, and college and professional leagues run together through the same seasons, from college tournaments up to championship runs. Shots use real 3D ball and rim physics, so bounces and finishes stay unpredictable even when you are only watching. On the court you have moves like ankle breakers, spin moves, step backs, alley-oops, and chase down blocks to work with.
Playing together
Single player and local multiplayer options put you in control of the action, so a group can share the sticks and play games against each other. Remote Play Together is supported, which lets friends join in over a session. Controller support is listed, so a pad is the natural way to handle the on-court moves. Between games, the group can also just watch: spectating and simulating let you follow a league as it plays itself out and react together to what happens.
Modes to sink into
Career Mode starts you as a young prospect out of high school. You pick a college, build relationships with teammates, declare for the draft, and chase awards on the way up. Franchise Mode puts you in the manager's chair of a struggling team: scout college prospects, make draft picks, develop rookies, sign free agents, trade unhappy players, and pile up championship banners. Commissioner Mode gives you the league itself to run, including player trades and expansion teams, with advanced settings you can toggle such as CPU roster changes and injuries, plus the ability to pick award winners. The league keeps going over endless seasons.
Before you start
Customization runs deep across both college and pro leagues: team names, uniform colors, court designs, rosters, coaches, and awards are all editable. Custom leagues can be imported or shared with the Hoop Land community and loaded into any season mode, which is where the replay value comes from. The game is in Early Access, so expect it to still be in development.
