A card-battling band roguelike in Riff City
Battle Bands: Rock & Roll Deckbuilder is a turn-based card game where you build a deck and take it into shows against AI opponents. You pick an instrument — Guitar, Bass, Keyboard or Drums — and build your deck from hundreds of unique cards, many of them tied to a specific instrument. Between shows you upgrade cards, refine your deck and plan the next move, so each run gives you new cards and synergies to discover. The campaign is roguelike: you progress from garage band hero toward monster axe-wielding maestro, and the deckbuilding choices you make along the way decide how far you get. Special Reign-specific cards appear during the themed reigns of the campaign.
Playing together as a band
The cooperative campaign supports 1-4 players, so you can go solo or bring friends along. Everyone controls their own instrument and contributes cards on their turn, which means coordinating what you play matters as much as the cards themselves. If you'd rather not manage everything yourself, the game lets you fully control all of your bandmates' actions, or hand off to optional AI-assisted bandmates and steer them with the built-in chat and ping system. Between rounds your group can talk through deck changes and line up the next show. The goal across a run is to outperform the competition and build hype for your band.
Customization and progression
Your band's look is a big part of the package. You customize instruments, clothes, wardrobe, your van and even your van buddy, and you name the band yourself. Progress earns Backstage Pass exp, which unlocks cosmetics, plus Tokens to spend in Joe's Variety Shop. All passes are free and you can switch to any pass at any time, and every shop cosmetic is earned through gameplay — completing milestones or leveling a pass. Tokens are yours to spend whenever you like on whatever look you want.
Before you start
Expect a card battler with roguelike structure: runs are meant to be replayed, and your deck changes as you go. Combat is turn-based and tactical, so there's time to think about each play rather than reacting in real time. The game is in Early Access, which means it's still being worked on. It's a PvE experience against AI adversaries in the campaign, and you can play it alone or with up to three friends online.
