What Backroom Company is about
You sign on as a test subject for Axiom Corp, also called Backroom Company, and drop into the Backrooms through the Noclip phenomenon. Nobody knows who built this place. Your job is to record what should not exist and get the data out alive. Filming is survival: pick up the strange items scattered through the rooms, point your camera at unidentified entities, and transmit what you capture. That data is your survival score and your way out.
The game runs in two modes. Exploration Mode drops you into environments that keep changing, so getting lost is part of the threat. Story Mode uses a fixed map and lets you follow the conspiracy Backroom Company has been hiding. The areas reach past the hotel, swimming pool, and parking lot into the foul-smelling Sewers and the eerie School.
Playing it with your group
Online co-op is the way your group runs these halls together. You split up to cover more ground, pool the items you find, and hold the camera steady while something closes in. The game is built around staying in contact: call out what you see, warn the others about what is coming, and decide together when to push forward and when to fall back.
The entities are not a joke. An immortal one chases you without tiring, and a monster without eyes hears the faintest breath, so your group has to move quietly and hold your breath on cue. Panic spreads fast, and the game leans into dark humor about it. Teammates can turn on each other when nerves break, so keep your heads and save the shooting for the things that actually want you dead.
Before you start
Bring headphones and a mic, since sound is a mechanic and not just atmosphere. Footsteps and breathing give you away, so learn to muffle your movement and time your breaths. Lockers are the only safe haven, so know where the nearest one is before you commit to a room.
Pick your mode up front. Exploration Mode will disorient you on purpose, while Story Mode gives you a fixed map to work from. Expect the tone to stay grim, with zombies, psychological horror, and survival elements layered onto the exploration. The camera is not a side tool; it is how you score and how you leave evidence, so treat every battery and every shot as part of the run.
