What Climb The Backrooms is

Climb The Backrooms is a first-person adventure where you climb upward through the twisted levels of the Backrooms. Movement leans on physics-based object manipulation: you grab and move objects to clear obstacles, build routes, and reach places that were not meant to be reachable. Alongside the physical challenges, the levels throw puzzles at you — decrypting riddles, unlocking paths, and working out the strange logic the Backrooms run on. Progress is linear, so the group always has a clear direction to push in, but the route there is rarely straightforward.

Playing it as a group

Online Co-op lets you team up with up to 3 other players, so a full session runs to 4 players. Splitting up the work is the natural way to play: some people handle the heavy object manipulation while others work on the riddles, and everyone shares whatever secrets they uncover on the way up. The game also works solo if your group wants a more intense, lonely run instead.

What to know before starting

The atmosphere is dark and psychological, and the tag list includes Gore and Horror, so expect unsettling content rather than a cozy puzzle outing. Threats lurk in the shadows while you play — you can outsmart them, outrun them, or find a way to fight, but they keep watching, so backtracking and dark corridors carry real risk. The puzzles are meant to be solved with your head as much as your hands, so a group that talks through riddles will get further than one that rushes. Expect a mix of platforming, puzzle solving, and tense encounters rather than pure combat.
