What Timespinner is

Timespinner is a story-driven action-platformer in the Metroidvania tradition, built around pixel art and a side-scrolling view. You play as Lunais, a timekeeper whose family was murdered by the Lachiem Empire and whose ancient Timespinner device was destroyed. Stranded in an unknown world, she vows revenge, but the course of history turns out to be less clear-cut than it first appears. The world is large and interconnected: you move between the barren present and the lush past of Lachiem, uncovering hidden areas behind secret walls and solving platforming puzzles to reach treasure.

How a group plays it together

Timespinner supports local co-op. A second player joins by taking control of Lunais' Familiar, fighting alongside her rather than taking over the main character. The Steam feature Remote Play Together is listed, so a friend can join remotely through that. Combat leans on timing and dodging: you collect elemental Magic Orbs throughout the world, combine their power, and strike with blades and spells. Orbs grow stronger the more you use them. You also befriend creatures called Familiars, such as the dream dragon Meyef, and train them to help in battle. Stopping time lets you freeze enemies, use them as platforms, and work through puzzles.

Before you start

Boss fights are demanding and put weight on skill, timing, and dodging, so expect to retry and learn patterns before taking on the Emperor. Exploration rewards careful attention: secret walls and platforming puzzles hide areas and loot you would otherwise walk past. The soundtrack is a gothic PS1-style score by Jeff Ball, and the game supports full gamepad play on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
