A first-person nightmare in a desolate castle

Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in the shoes of Daniel, who wakes up in a desolate castle with almost no memory of his past. Your mind is a mess, and only a feeling of being hunted remains. You must escape. As you explore the eerie pathways, you uncover fragments of Daniel's troubled memories, and the horror comes from both the outside and the inside. It is a disturbing odyssey into the dark corners of the human mind.

Playing through the story

This is a singleplayer experience where you are in control from the beginning to the end. There are no cut-scenes or time-jumps; whatever happens happens to you first hand. The game is built around immersion, discovery, and living through a nightmare as you stumble through narrow corridors while a distant cry gets closer.

What to know before starting

You are thrown headfirst into a dangerous world where danger can lurk behind every corner. Your only means of defense are hiding, running, or using your wits. The game uses a fully physically simulated world, 3D graphics, and a dynamic sound system to pull you in, so a sound of dragging feet might be real or your mind playing tricks on you. Remote Play Together is available as a Steam feature.
