Two aliens, four stages, one job
Abduction Bit is a NES-like arcade platformer from SEEP, built on the feel of 80s classics like Bubble Bobble, Ice Climber and Mario Bros. You take control of an alien and work through four stages: a construction site, a hotel, a military base and a laboratory. The goal in each stage is to capture every human without touching them, while staying clear of the traps scattered around the platforms. Your tool is a sci-fi gun that paralyses a target for a set number of seconds, long enough to wipe their memory so they do not remember the incident. Caught humans are shaved, stripped and teleported up to the UFO. The controls are simple — jump and shoot — but the difficulty sits high, so expect precision platforming rather than a relaxed stroll.
Playing it together
Abduction Bit has local co-op for two players, so you can share a keyboard or controllers on one screen and split the abduction work between you. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets a friend join your session over the internet as if they were sitting beside you. Coordination matters: both of you need to cover the humans on a stage, and neither of you can afford to bump into a target, since touching them ruins the capture. Clearing a stage means every human is accounted for, so a missed one keeps you both in the level.
Before you start
The game leans fully into a 100% retro look and sound, with pixel graphics and an arcade presentation rather than modern effects. You can pick different level packs from the main menu, and the developer plans to release more packs as free DLC, each with a different style of play. Between runs you can customize the palette of your alien, and the game includes save states and achievements. It works as a singleplayer game too, so you are not locked into the co-op setup if the group is not around. Expect a short, sharp arcade loop where memorising trap placement and timing your jumps matters more than raw speed.
