What Arcade Mayhem Juanito is about
Arcade Mayhem Juanito is a retro-styled 2D action game about arcade-hopping. You play as Juanito, a young and lazy boy in his pyjamas, armed with a fearsome arsenal of weapons. When the mutant Clonocells from outer space attack, Juanito is chosen by Gluk, a bipolar manipulative alien, and becomes the last hope. Your job is to enter infected arcade cabinets and save the classic retro videogames inside. Across 80+ unique levels inspired by 8 classic arcade games, each world brings its own mechanic based on the game it features, so the play style keeps shifting as you move between cabinets. Expect very disgusting enemies, several boss battles, and a final ruthless boss fight, all with stunningly animated bosses and a hand-drawn cartoon look.
Playing it together
The game has a Local Co-op Mode that lets you play the entire game with a friend. On top of that, Remote Play Together is supported, so a friend can join in even if they are not sitting next to you. Co-op is tagged for the game, and the bullet-hell and shoot 'em up action means there is plenty of chaos to share when two of you take on the clonocell invasion together. If your group likes competing as well as cooperating, in-game Steam Leaderboards track 12 different rankings globally, and there are 80+ Steam Achievements to chase.
Before you start
Bring patience: the game is tagged as difficult, and the boss fights are described as epic and hardcore, so expect to die and retry. You will want to make use of the 10+ weapons, power-ups and upgrades as you go, since the enemies get nastier. An Endless Survival Mode is there when you want to test your endurance rather than push through levels. The soundtrack covers 8-bit, chiptune, electro, techno, dubstep and remix styles, which fits the arcade setting. Controller compatibility is supported, and Steam Cloud carries your game data with you, so you can pick up where you left off.
