What Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free-to-play first-person shooter set in World War 2. Matches are objective-based rather than simple deathmatches: your team wins by completing key objectives, not just by racking up kills. You pick a side, Axis or Allies, and fight across six maps based on real-world battle locations. The game is a classic of the genre, with the straightforward, fast-moving feel of older shooters rather than modern gadget-heavy design.
How your group plays it together
This is an online PvP game for up to 32 players, so a group of friends can fill a decent chunk of a server on one side. Everyone joins the same team and works toward the shared objectives, which means coordination matters more than individual score. Splitting up across roles is the practical way to cover a map: an Engineer handles the technical work objectives require, a Medic keeps the push alive, a Soldier brings raw firepower, Field Ops supports the team from range, and Covert Ops covers the stealthier tasks. Playing as a group lets you assign those roles ahead of time instead of leaving the lineup to chance, and it makes holding a position or escorting an objective much easier than going in alone.
Before you start
Pick your class with the map and your team's plan in mind, since each of the five classes does a different job and the objectives depend on having the right ones covered. Expect a World War 2 setting with violent combat and gore, so it is not a gentle shoot. As a retro title, the visuals and gunplay belong to an older era of FPS design — that is part of the appeal, but it will not look or handle like a current shooter. Since the whole game is built around teams completing objectives together, joining with friends on the same side is the smoothest way in.
