What Team Fortress Classic is

Team Fortress Classic is a class-based first-person shooter from Valve, built around fast team warfare. You pick one of over nine character classes, each with its own weapons, items and abilities, and the class you choose shapes what you do in a round. The Medic, the Spy and the Demolition Man are named examples of how different those roles are — one keeps people alive, one works through deception, one blows things up. Matches run in a variety of game play modes, so objectives change from server to server rather than being one fixed way to play.

How a group plays it together

The whole game is online PvP, so your group joins the same server and splits across the two competing teams. Because classes matter, it pays to talk through the lineup before you spawn: someone has to hold the front, someone has to keep the team standing, and someone has to deal with whatever the other side is hiding behind. Coordination is where this game earns its team-based label — a stack of identical classes rarely covers what a round actually asks for. Remote Play Together is supported, so members of your group who want to join from one session can do that as well.

Before you start

Expect a classic, old-school shooter with 1990s roots: the pacing is fast, the combat is direct, and the game leans into violent, occasionally funny moments rather than realism. It is a remake of an earlier mod, so it carries the feel of that era rather than modern shooter conventions. Go in ready to switch classes mid-match when the team needs it, and read the mode you are playing before you commit — the objectives are not all the same, and knowing which one is active tells you where to stand and who to follow.
