Fire, Ice, and Earth as Tools

Wildfire is a 2D side-scrolling stealth game where you play as a witch with elemental powers. You throw fireballs to set the world ablaze, freeze water to walk across lakes or trap enemies in ice, and move earth to grow grass for hiding or vines for climbing. The environment is dense and systemic, so the way you combine these abilities shapes how each encounter plays out. Fire spreads and keeps burning, which means it can clear a path or backfire on you if you are standing in the wrong place. Your goal is to free captive villagers and lead them to safety while reclaiming your home from the superstitious armies of the Arch Duchess, who hunt you through forests, caverns, and frozen mountaintops.

Playing Together

Wildfire supports co-op with a friend, and you both wield your elemental powers at the same time. Working in tandem opens up new routes through the environment, since one player can hold back water or clear a path while the other moves in. The enemies are intelligent and coordinate to hunt you down, so splitting tasks and covering each other keeps the pressure manageable. At least one gamepad is required to play co-op. The game also supports Remote Play Together, which lets a friend join over a connection.

Before You Start

Expect stealth and puzzle-platforming rather than run-and-gun action. You are outsmarting enemies as much as fighting them, and the levels reward reading the terrain before committing to a move. Fire is powerful but not safe: it spreads and will consume anything in its path, including you. As you progress you learn new abilities tied to the elements, so early areas will feel more limited than later ones. The game can be played solo, and co-op changes how you approach the same systemic puzzles rather than simply doubling the firepower.
