What waxweaver is

waxweaver is a short sandbox RPG set on a square planet. You explore the world, gather resources, build a home and get stronger over time. The world is procedurally generated, so the layout you get is not the same one someone else gets, and there are secret world generator types to discover. Gravity works differently here because the planet is square, and that shapes how you move around and dig through the ground. Expect mining, fishing, crafting and exploration, with over 300 items to collect and 3 and a half bosses to take down. The whole thing runs about 6-ish hours of content, so it is a compact adventure rather than a long grind.

Playing it with friends

The Steam features list Online Co-op and Online PvP, so you can team up or go against each other online. A group can split up the work that suits a sandbox RPG: some people dig and mine, some fish, some gather materials, and everyone contributes to building a shared home. Because the world is procedurally generated, the group starts out exploring a planet none of you have seen before, which gives you something to figure out together. When you want a change of pace from gathering and building, PvP is there for a fight between the group.

Before you start

The game is free to play, so there is no barrier to trying it with your friends. It is a 2D platformer-style sandbox with a colorful, family-friendly look, and the tone is relaxed — the ambient tracks are described as cool and relaxing, and the tags include Relaxing and Casual alongside Survival and Destruction. There are 20 Steam achievements to work through, plus the bosses and the secret world generator types to find if you want reasons to come back after the main 6-ish hours. Going in, treat it as a small, self-contained project made over the course of a year by kaiakairos, with a short campaign you can finish rather than an endless live-service world.
