Fly WW1 fighters your way
Warplanes: WW1 Fighters puts you in the cockpit of Great War aircraft, with a flight model you can tune from arcade handling up to aerodynamics-based simulation. Two campaigns cover the Central Powers and the Triple Entente, with hundreds of missions across varied locations, seasons and times of day. You will fight enemy fighters and bombers, bomb ground targets, strike naval forces, and defend your base and cities from raids. Twenty playable planes range from light scouts to bombers, and you buy and upgrade them with in-game currency earned from missions. Medals from your command raise mission rewards and improve how you manage planes and crew.
Play with your group
Cross-platform support lets friends on different platforms join the same battles. Co-op missions let you bring friends along, while PvP offers Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Last Man Standing. In the campaigns you can build a squadron and swap between planes to suit the job: the Junkers D.II is fast and well armoured for hunting bombers, the Fokker Dr. I is highly manoeuvrable for dogfights, and the Airco DH.2 has a wide-open cockpit for an exposed flying experience.
Settings to sort out before you start
Difficulty ranges from Leisure mode, which is light and relaxed, through Realistic with an aerodynamics-based flight model, up to Real War, where secondary forces are calculated, takeoffs and landings are manual, damage affects flight, the AI is more cunning and aggressive, and the HUD is disabled. Further options include manual takeoffs and landings, aggressive AI, and turning the HUD off. The controls are built for tracked motion controllers: grab the yoke, hit the switch to reload the machine gun faster, take the flare pistol to shoot barrage balloons, or pick up a bomb and throw it at ground targets. Cockpits and plane models are detailed, and the game is optimized to run on low-end computers.
