What Vertigo Remastered is

Vertigo Remastered is a story-driven VR shooter set inside Planck Interdimensional's Quantum Reactor, a huge underground scientific facility. You play an alien who has been pulled away from home and dropped into the bowels of this machine. The goal is simple to state and hard to do: find your way to the surface and find out the truth. The facility is built to deal with extraterrestrial threats, so it fights back, and aliens from alternate universes are breaking in and causing havoc along the way. Along the path you'll find dark secrets, drones, and parallel universes to push through.

This version is a full overhaul of the 2016 original, with modern VR gameplay, new content, and a long list of fixes and improvements. Weapon handling and object interaction are fully physics driven, so grabbing, aiming, and manipulating things works off real physical behavior rather than canned animations. There's a large catalog of new and returning enemies, an unlockable upgrade tree, achievements, functional checkpoints, a new original soundtrack, and a variety of difficulty options to tailor the run.

Playing it together

Vertigo Remastered is tagged as a singleplayer experience, but it includes advanced spectator options with an experimental asymmetric co-op mode. That means one person can be in the headset playing while others watch along, and in the experimental mode a second player can join in from outside VR in an asymmetric setup. It's marked experimental, so expect rough edges rather than a polished co-op campaign. Remote Play Together is also supported, which lets friends join in over a session.

Before you start

This is a VR game, so you'll need a VR setup to play it. Comfort is addressed with hybrid teleport and smooth locomotion, so you can pick whichever suits you and switch if movement feels off. The game carries tags for gore, violence, and horror, so the facility gets bloody and tense at times. There are multiple difficulty options and an upgrade tree to grow into as you go, plus checkpoints so progress between fights holds. The tag list also notes a female protagonist alongside the shooter and sci-fi framing.
