A party game built around writing jokes

Use Your Words hands your group prompts and asks everyone to come up with the funniest reply. The game runs four mini-games: Sub The Title, where you watch a clip from a foreign film and write your own subtitles; Blank-o-Matic, where you complete a sentence; EXTRA, EXTRA!, where you write a caption or clickbait headline for a ridiculous photo; and Survey Says, a rapid-fire game show round you answer on instinct. The setup is simple: the game tees up the joke, you fill in the punchline, then everyone votes on the answers they liked best. The content is written in English only.

Playing together in one room

The game supports 3 to 6 local players, and each player uses a smartphone or tablet as their controller, so nobody has to pass a shared keyboard around. Up to 1,000 spectators can watch along and vote for their favorite answers. If someone gets stuck on a prompt, they can play one of the built-in "House Answers" instead of writing their own, which works as a trap once voting starts. The game also supports Remote Play Together, and the notes say it is played locally, with remote players able to join via stream or video conference. It works on HTML5-enabled devices.

Before you start

There is a "Family Mode" that filters out adult or otherwise controversial prompts, which is worth switching on if younger players or mixed company are involved. The mini-games are quick to pick up, so a first round gets going fast even if nobody has played before. The package ships with four mini-games and a large amount of content, plus a vintage soundtrack with songs by composer Bob Thompson. Some trailer footage shows earlier phases of development, so it may not match the final game.
