You are a tree
Tree Simulator 2022 puts you in the forest as a tree, and that is the whole job. Embrace the forest, discover what it means to truly be a tree, and relax while you do it. The store text describes it as a true work of art and lets you know customizable settings are in there, without saying much more about what they cover. Movement is simple: A and D rotate your view, W and S zoom in and out, and Escape opens the menu and settings. There is not much to learn before you start, which fits a game built around doing very little with a straight face.
Playing together as a forest
Multiplayer is the headline feature, so a group can gather as a stand of trees rather than each sitting alone in the woods. The invite flow runs through the host's menu: the host tree presses Escape, clicks "Invite trees," and uses the invite dialog to bring others in. The other trees start Tree Simulator 2022, press Shift+Tab to open the Steam overlay, and click "Play Game" in the Steam chat window. One important detail: the "Invite to game" and "Join game" options in the Steam overlay only work after a host tree has clicked "Invite trees" from the in-game menu, so do that first or the invites will not line up.
What to expect from a full lobby
The invite is open to up to 100 of your closest trees, though the developers are straightforward about testing: multiplayer has been tested with 4 trees and should support up to 100. In a full forest, slots 1 through 4 and 7 through 100 are normal trees, while trees 5 and 6 are rocks. Plan your session around that quirk rather than discovering it mid-game.
There is no built-in text or voice chat in Tree Simulator 2022, so the game recommends using Discord or Steam chat to talk while you stand around. Set up a voice channel before anyone joins and the forest will feel much less quiet.
