What TOUHOU SKY ARENA MATSURI CLIMAX is
This is a 3D battle action game based on Touhou Project, where Touhou girls fight high-speed battles in the sky above Gensokyo. The stages are floating pieces of Gensokyo, with floating shrines and rocks that can block bullets, so the terrain matters as much as your aim. Shots and spells are both limited in number, which means you cannot simply hold the attack button and hope for the best. You pick your moments: spend a shot now, save it for a spell, or hold back and defend until the situation turns in your favor.
The Fired-up Battle System
The core idea is that your character's abilities change along with the playing song. When Fired-up Mode kicks in, your stats shift with the music, and you decide whether to play offensively or defensively based on the mode you are currently in. There are over 90 songs recorded by Japanese artists for the battles, and you can build your own Fired-up Mode data, choosing a song you are comfortable with to push your rivals around. On top of that, the Reigyoku System lets you equip one of three types — Attack, Speed, or Protection — to tune your build before a fight.
Playing together
Online play supports up to 4 players. Rank Match is the mode where results affect your ranking, while Player Match is the relaxed option for battling friends. You can also set your own rules and run 2vs2 battles in Battle Royales against strangers from your country. Remote Play Together is available if someone in your group wants to join from a friend's session.
Before you start
The game has a tutorial to walk you through the basics, and there is a singleplayer option alongside the online modes. Expect bullet hell patterns mixed with 3D fighter movement — dodging and positioning in three dimensions while the Fired-up Mode keeps changing what your character can do. Pick your Reigyoku type and your Fired-up song with the way you want to play in mind, since both shape how a match unfolds.
