Four 90s racers in one package
Top Racer Collection brings together Top Racer, Top Racer 2, Top Racer 3000 and Top Racer Crossroads, a new entry with four exclusive cars. The series started on the SNES in 1992 and grew from there. Top Racer keeps things simple with four cars, 32 tracks, manual or automatic gears and nitro boosts. Top Racer 2 raises the stakes with damage to manage, resources to collect, upgrades to buy and weather that calls for tire changes across 64 tracks. Top Racer 3000 jumps a thousand years ahead for an interplanetary series of 47 tracks, with upgrades like nuclear fusion engines and titanium-cobalt armor, plus tools such as a jump and a magnet to slow the cars ahead. Across all four games there are over 140 tracks to race.
Playing together
Split-screen is the main way to sit down with friends. Top Racer, Top Racer 2 and Top Racer Crossroads each support 2 players, while Top Racer 3000 goes up to 4 simultaneous players. Remote Play Together lets someone join from a distance. Online mode puts you against racers anywhere and feeds the world rankings. Custom Cup is the mode for a group session: pick 4 tracks from any of the games and set the challenge for everyone.
Modes and extras
Campaign mode runs through the 140 tracks, time attack puts you against the clock, and quick race drops you straight in. The pixel art and 8-bit music match the originals, and there are filters that mimic old TV sets if you want the full 90s look. Top Racer Crossroads adds four cars that reference vehicles from other racing games and from Brazilian car culture. Top Racer 2 and Top Racer 3000 ask for more than quick reflexes, so expect to juggle fuel, nitro, damage and upgrades as the races get longer.
