What the game is
This Is Golf is a first-person golf game where the shot comes entirely from your mouse motion. You shape the swing with the mouse and the ball reacts to it, so the feel of the movement matters more than a power meter. Every hole is procedurally generated, which means you never play the same layout twice and can't lean on memorized courses. The tone is light and a bit goofy, but the shots themselves take real practice to get right.
Playing with your group
You can play solo or join lobbies with up to 8 players. While the shot happens in first person, you can walk around in third person to scout the terrain before you commit, which is also how you watch your friends line up their shots. Seeing someone attempt a "crazy new stinger" and watching it fly is half the fun of a group round. Online co-op and online PvP are both supported, so a lobby can turn into a friendly competition quickly.
Clubs and terrain
The club selection runs from the 5 iron through the 9 iron, pitching wedge, driver and putter, and each one has its own purpose on the course. Nobody picks the right club every time at the start; you learn which one fits the situation by hitting with them and seeing the result. Because the holes are generated on the fly, reading the terrain before each shot is a core part of the round rather than something you can plan around.
Before you start
Expect a casual game that still asks something of you: the mouse-driven swing has a learning curve, and the random holes keep you adjusting instead of settling into a routine. It works fine as a relaxed solo session and works even better when a few friends are in the lobby trading good shots and bad ones.
