A 90's Style Beat'em Up
The TakeOver is a side-scrolling beat'em up inspired by 90's classics such as Streets of Rage and Final Fight. You fight your way across 7 stages and over 20 unique locations, with the story presented via comic book style cutscenes. The art style mixes pre-rendered high resolution character sprites with detailed real time backgrounds built with 1080p or above resolutions in mind. The soundtrack features music from Little V Mills, Richie Branson, James Ronald and Yuzo Koshiro.
Fighting Together
You can battle solo or alongside a friend in local co-op in any of the three featured game modes: Arcade, Survival and Challenge. There are four playable characters to choose from. The unlockable Relay Mode lets you swap between characters in real time. The gameplay is built around a combo system that lets you link punches and kicks to put enemies on the ground, keep them stunned, or launch them into the air to juggle. Holding a combo fills your Super meter faster for a devastating attack. Weapons like crowbars, swords and machine guns can be found in the levels, and each character has a unique sidearm with scarce ammunition. Remote Play Together is supported.
Before You Start
The game is easy to get into but not easy to master. It offers three difficulty modes: Easy, Normal and Hard. In Hard mode the game always starts from Stage 1, there are no continues, and enemies are faster, more aggressive and more numerous, aimed at hardcore old-school beat'em up fans. The game is tagged as violent and includes gore.
