A run-and-gun platformer in the tree tops
The Expendabros is a side-scrolling shooter set in the forests of Eastern Europe, where the Expendabros have assembled to take on the forces of ruthless arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks. You fight through ten full-throttle missions across picturesque tree tops and absurdly dangerous lumber mills filled with enemy soldiers, excessive artillery, and inconveniently placed circular saws. Along the way you rescue brothers in arms and take control of seven different legendary soldiers — Cast Bro Caesar, Bro Christmas, Broney Ross, Trent Broser, Bronar Jenson, Broc, and Toll Broad — each with their own unique weapons and special attacks. The action is fast and chaotic, with bullets flying constantly and plenty of destructible scenery to blow apart.
Playing together with your group
Up to four players can jump in together in local multiplayer co-op mode, so you and your friends can share a screen and push through the missions as a team. Everyone picks a bro, and the mix of different weapons and special attacks means the group can cover each other as you move through the levels. Remote Play Together is supported, which lets people join in over the internet as well. The tone is comedic throughout, so expect over-the-top violence played for laughs rather than anything taking itself seriously.
Before you start
The game is part of the Broforce family, built around the idea of an under-funded, over-powered paramilitary organization that deals exclusively in excessive force. Levels are packed with chain reactions of fire, napalm, and explosions, so collateral damage is part of the fun. The source material is The Expendables 3, where Barney and his team face off against Conrad Stonebanks, who co-founded The Expendables before becoming a ruthless arms trader. The film carries a PG-13 rating for intense sustained gun battles, fight scenes, and language, and the game carries that same spirit of non-stop action. It works with a controller and is tagged for local multiplayer, so set up a shared screen and get everyone ready to run and gun.
