A bloody 2D revenge run
The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile is a fast, combo-heavy 2D action platformer from Ska Studios, following up on 2009's Dead Samurai. You pick either Yuki, a machine-armed prisoner whose mind is coming apart, or The Dishwasher, a reanimated samurai who will not stop. Both are hunting the same three corrupted leaders: the Banker, the General, and the Judge. The whole thing is drawn in a gritty, graphic novel style on a new engine that pushes the gore further than before. Expect side-scrolling levels packed with enemies, chains of attacks, and a soundtrack that keeps the pace up.
Playing it with friends
The game supports Online Co-op, so you and a friend can run the levels together over the internet. There is also Online PvP if you would rather fight each other. Remote Play Together is listed as a feature, which lets someone join in through that system. Local Co-Op is tagged as well, so two people on one setup can play side by side. However you group up, the core loop stays the same: move through the stage, cut down everything in your path, and keep the combo chain alive.
Before you start
This is tagged as Difficult, so expect to die and retry sections until the enemy patterns click. The content is violent and gory, with a horror edge to the vampires and body horror on display, so it is not one for a squeamish crowd. It is a Metroidvania-style side scroller, meaning the layout rewards learning the levels and coming back with new abilities. The game originally came out in 2011 on Xbox 360, and this version carries that same campaign. Pick your character, settle the difficulty expectations up front, and get ready for a long, messy fight to the last mark.
