A classic JRPG about two dying worlds
Tales of Symphonia follows the legend of a Chosen One who is meant to rise from the people and reborn the land. The story takes place across two interlocked worlds whose fates are tied together, and the line between good and evil stays blurry as the journey goes on. This is the PlayStation 3 port of the original GameCube game, now on Steam for the first time. Expect a long, emotionally charged storyline with over 80 hours of gameplay, cel-shaded characters designed by Kosuke Fujishima, and a soundtrack that carries the atmosphere.
Battles and progression
Combat happens in real time in 3D. You control your character directly in the fight and can chain together hundreds of special attacks and magic spells. Between battles you move through the world, follow the story, and build up your party. Choices matter along the way, and there is plenty of replay value if you want to go through it again.
Playing with friends
The game carries a Local Co-Op tag and a Local Multiplayer tag, so a group can share the session on one setup. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets friends join in over a connection. The core experience is a single-player RPG with a story-rich campaign, so the group play sits on top of that rather than replacing it.
