Build and defend your own castle
Stronghold HD is a medieval castle sim where you lay out walls, gates and towers, then run the economy that keeps them supplied. You place houses for your workers, gather resources, and produce the weapons your troops need. The castle layout matters: corridors, chokepoints and killing zones decide how well your defenses hold when the enemy comes through the gates. The HD battlefield view lets you zoom out and see the whole map on one screen at real time, so you can watch a siege play out across the entire field or zoom in to manage a single stretch of wall.
Fight through campaigns and sieges
There are two single player campaigns. The story campaign has 21 missions where you reunite medieval England by defeating the Rat, Pig, Snake and Wolf, with tasks ranging from breaking sieges and capturing enemy castles to raising gold and holding off attacks. The economic campaign is combat-free: you gather resources and build weapons against a time limit, and it doubles as a place to practice castle design. Siege That! lets you besiege historical castles. Missions vary in what they ask of you, so some are about army control and flanking, others about economy and planning.
Play online with your group
Stronghold HD supports online PvP for up to 8 players. Your group can jump into matches together and test castle designs against each other, using the zoomed-out battlefield view to coordinate attacks and defenses across the full map. The game runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10, and saved games sync through Steam Cloud.
