A castle sim rebuilt from the ground up

Stronghold: Definitive Edition returns to the original real-time strategy game that mixed city building with warfare. You take charge of a settlement in medieval England, gathering resources, constructing a castle, protecting your townsfolk and managing your gold. Armies are raised and sent to war, while the economy keeps everything running. The game has been rebuilt using the source artwork, with remade textures, lighting and animations, plus remastered music from Robert L. Euvino and returning voice talent.

Campaigns and sieges

Two classic campaigns cover 26 missions, and a new 14-mission narrative campaign from Firefly Studios founders Simon Bradbury and Eric Ouellette sends you across the devastated English hinterland to rescue Sir Longarm's captured kin. The missions range from breaking sieges and capturing enemy castles to building fortresses and repelling assaults, with military and economic campaigns that include castle assaults and grand banquets. The villains of the original game, the Rat, Pig, Snake and Wolf, return as the lords you must strike down. Beyond the story, a historical Castle Trail offers 10 unique siege scenarios set at famous historical fortresses.

Playing together

Steam multiplayer supports 8 players, so a group can face off on extra maps. Steam Workshop is built in, letting the community create and share new content that anyone can pick up. The Definitive Edition also adds community requested features and modernised gameplay on top of the original design.
