A city that reacts to your choices
Streets of Rogue drops you into a procedurally generated city where the mission goals can be completed in whatever way you pick. You can shoot your way through, sneak past guards, hack computers, or talk your way past the people in your path. The city is populated by AI-driven characters who go about their own routines, so the streets feel alive rather than just being a series of rooms to clear. The game draws on top-down rogue-lites like Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne, then layers in the free-form, experimentation-driven approach of RPGs like Deus Ex.
Playing together
The game supports 4-player online and local cooperative modes. Each player picks from a roster of over 20 character types, and the mix of characters shapes how the group tackles a mission. A soldier, a stealthy doctor, a bartender, a hacker, and a gorilla all bring different tools and traits to the run, so a group can split tasks or combine abilities to solve a problem. Items like shrink rays, hypnotizing devices, boomboxes, bear traps, and food processors give you plenty of options beyond guns. Online PvP is also available for groups that want to play against each other instead of alongside each other, and Remote Play Together lets friends join in over a local session.
Before you start
Each run generates a fresh city and mission goals, so the layout and the obstacles change every time. The game includes violent content and gore, which is worth knowing before you jump in with a group. Characters have distinct traits, and success often comes from reading the situation and picking the right tool rather than relying on raw firepower. The AI will react to what you do, so a plan that works one run may need adjusting the next.
