What Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe is

Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe is a turn-based strategy game played on a top-down hex map, where each hex covers 20 miles and includes key cities, railroads, logistical centers and maritime trade routes. You take command of either the Axis or the Allies and direct every nation in that coalition. Each nation brings its own strengths and weaknesses, technology levels, troops, equipment and industrial capacity, so the job is to make all of them work together. Fighting happens on land, at sea and in the air with a wide range of historical units, and you choose between 3-D unit graphics or NATO counters if you prefer a traditional wargaming look.

How a group plays it together

The game supports Online PvP and Remote Play Together, so friends can face each other across the map rather than only fighting the AI. Since play is turn-based, matches move at a pace that suits a group: one side plans and moves, then the other responds. Fog of War is active, meaning you decide with partial knowledge of your opponent's intentions and dispositions, which makes each turn a read on what the other player is really doing. When nobody is available, the AI is there instead, and it counter attacks, exploits weak points, sets traps and runs campaigns on every front.

What to know before starting

The Grand Campaign starts in 1939, and there are also scenarios beginning in 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943 and 1944, so a group can pick a shorter starting point if a full campaign feels like too much. Military force alone does not win: research and development, diplomacy and espionage are part of the game. You can research and upgrade units across areas such as Infantry Weapons, Rockets, Anti-Submarine Warfare and Amphibious Warfare, manage relationships with neutral powers to win them over or deny resources to the enemy, and handle more than 100 unique strategic level Decision Events. Resources are limited, so balancing day-to-day war demands against long-term strategy is the core of the game. An editor is included for making your own "what-if" scenarios, maps and campaigns from scratch.
