A Star Wars shooter with a Jedi story
Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II is a first-person action game from LucasArts that continues the story of Kyle Katarn. You start with a 10 weapon arsenal and, as you progress, you acquire a lightsaber and learn more than 12 Force powers to become a Jedi Knight. The campaign runs through 21 levels of 3D environments where you face familiar foes like Greedo, Boosk and stormtroopers, as well as seven dark Jedi who each have their own unique powers. The story also puts a choice in front of you: take the patient route to Jedi Knighthood on the light side, or give in to the dark side. Each path unlocks its own set of exclusive Force powers, such as healing, persuasion, blinding and absorption for the light side, or grip, Force throw, energy bolts and destruction for the dark side.
Playing together
The game supports multiplayer over modem, network or Internet, and includes 9 multiplayer levels. Steam also lists Remote Play Together as a feature, which lets friends join in over a connection. Since the multiplayer setup relies on those connection methods, it is worth checking how your group wants to link up before you start.
Before you start
This is a classic 1990's shooter, so expect the look and feel of that era, including FMV cutscenes and a soundtrack that fits the Star Wars setting. The game is compatible with many 3D graphics cards. It offers both first-person and third-person viewpoints, and the store text notes singleplayer and multiplayer tags alongside the campaign and level counts above.
