What Snail Simulator is

Snail Simulator is a slow-paced action-adventure game where you play as a snail exploring a world called Snearth. The game leans into its premise completely: you move around as a snail, taking in the environment and exploring at a walking-simulator pace. It is tagged as atmospheric, realistic, cute and relaxing, so the appeal is less about fast combat and more about wandering around in a convincing snail life simulation.

Alongside the main simulation, the game has RPG and immersive sim elements, with a linear structure to its exploration. The developer describes it as a "Massively Multiplayer Online Snails" experience, so the snail population you meet while out in Snearth is part of the picture rather than a separate mode.

Playing with friends

The game supports Online Co-op, and the developer encourages bringing along "a snail-y friend or two" to explore Snearth together. As an MMO, you will encounter other snails out in the world while you play, so the exploration is shared even when you are not in a group.

Monthly Snail Parties are a recurring event, giving your group a scheduled reason to log in together and see what the community is up to at the same time. The developer also runs a Discord community and invites players to join it alongside the game.

Hats, slugs and the details

Snails can wear hats, though whether you do is up to you. This is your simulation, after all.

A Slug DLC is available, so slugs exist as an option alongside the snails if you want to shake up your run through Snearth.

Before you start

Set your expectations for pace. Snail Simulator is a walking simulator about being a snail, and one player's own words captured the experience well: the game is fun specifically because it is slow. It is a third-person, linear, atmospheric experience with a realistic and cute art style, presented in low poly.

If your group wants a relaxed, social night in a shared world rather than something fast and competitive, this fits that bill well. Monthly Snail Parties give the community a natural meeting point, and the active developer presence in the community means there is usually something new happening in Snearth to check out together.
