What Shards of Infinity is
Shards of Infinity is a deckbuilding card game from Temple Gates Games, the follow-up to Ascension. A hundred years ago the Infinity Engine was shattered, and the shards tore most of the world apart. You gather forces, take down your rivals, and try to rebuild the Engine. Your deck grows over the course of the match: you recruit allies and champions drawn from four unique factions, and mercenaries can be deployed the moment you buy them for immediate attacks. Mastering the Shard of Infinity is how you push into limitless power.
Playing it as a group
The game supports 2 to 4 players, so a Discord group can sit down together in one match. Network multiplayer handles playing across the internet, and local pass and play covers sharing a screen in the same room. Remote Play Together is available if someone wants to join from their own setup. A full game runs about 30 minutes, which fits a short session between other things. There is also solo play against AI when the rest of the group is offline.
Before you start
Expect a strategy card battler rather than a fast arcade game: you are building a deck, choosing which faction cards to bring in, and timing mercenaries for surprise attacks. The four factions give you different recruitment options to weigh each turn. Since matches last around half an hour, plan for that length when scheduling. Everyone at the table plays by the same rules, so the deciding factor is how well you build and spend your deck rather than any hidden setup.
