What Screen Stocks is
Screen Stocks is an online multiplayer trading game built around a real-time simulated market. You buy, sell, and short stocks to build up wealth, working with a small set of tools that keep growing as you play. It sits in the incremental and idle corner of things: income keeps ticking, and your job is to decide where to put it. New stocks open up as you level, so the list you can trade from early on is not the list you end up with. Alongside trading you upgrade your income, your dividends, and how much stock volume you can hold, and leveling grants bonuses such as auto-actions and higher offline returns. When you want a bigger reset, you can prestige by Going Public. The look is 2D pixel graphics with a 1990's retro feel, and there are tons of skins to pick from.
Playing it with your group
Everything happens in the same online market, so your group is trading against and alongside each other in real time. You can team up with other traders or try to outsmart them all — the Steam features cover both Online Co-op and Online PvP, so a session can be cooperative or competitive depending on how your group plays it. Because the market is shared, what one person does with a buy, a sell, or a short is visible to everyone else's positions, and the same price moves hit all of you. That makes it easy to run a group where some people chase the same plays and others deliberately take the opposite side.
Before you start
The game is designed to run either in full screen or parked in the corner of your desktop while you take care of other things, which suits long sessions where the market keeps moving whether you are watching closely or not. Offline returns are part of the progression, so stepping away still feeds your income, and auto-actions unlock as you level to keep things running. Expect a steady climb rather than a fixed finish: you upgrade, you unlock more stocks, you may go public to prestige, and you start the climb again with better numbers. It plays as a singleplayer idle game as much as a multiplayer one, so your group can be in the market together without needing to coordinate every click.
