The Ray Series in One Collection
Ray'z Arcade Chronology brings together the full Ray series of vertically scrolling arcade shooters from the 90s: RayForce, RayStorm, RayStorm neo-HD, RayCrisis, and RayCrisis HD. The two 3D entries are included in enhanced HD versions alongside faithful ports of the arcade originals. The games are sci-fi shooters with a female protagonist, and the story and world-building are told through the gameplay itself. Tamayo's musical scores set the scene, and the collection includes both the original and arranged soundtracks.
How the Shooting Works
The core mechanic is the lock-on laser. Holding the button lets you target several enemies at once, then release to take them all down in one strike, clearing threats before they reach you. Alongside that you have your standard shot for whatever is right in front of you. The ports add off-screen gadgets that supply supplementary info during play, plus screen filters for an arcade look.
Playing Together and Preparing
The collection supports local multiplayer and local co-op, and Remote Play Together lets friends join over a network. You can play in landscape or rotate the monitor for portrait mode. A save anywhere feature lets you stop and practice specific tough spots, and you can download replay data to study how experienced players handle the game. Additional soundtracks, gadgets, and quality-of-life features round out the package.
