What Raiders of the North Sea is
Raiders of the North Sea is a digital version of a worker-placement board game. On each turn you harvest resources twice: first by placing one worker, and then by recovering a different one. You spend those resources to hire a Viking crew and outfit your longboat, then send your crew on raids to win gold and glory. Battles can end with your crew surviving the Valkyrie or dying an honored death for your Chieftain. You amass plunder and make sacrificial offerings to win, and you complete objectives to upgrade your longboat.
Playing together
Online PvP lets you face other players in multiplayer battles, and cross-platform online play lets you sail with people on PC, iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. The turn-based structure means everyone plays at their own pace rather than in real time. If your group wants a break from multiplayer, there is a 10-game campaign to explore the North Sea and single-player games against AI opponents.
Before you start
A full tutorial teaches the strategy of the game, so it is worth running through before your first match. The game is turn-based tactics with card and board game elements, so expect to plan your worker placement and crew composition rather than react quickly.
