Two arcade shooters in one package
R-Type Dimensions EX brings R-Type and R-Type II together, covering all 14 stages of the Bydo-infested campaign: the 8 levels of R-Type and the 6 levels of R-Type II. The classic side-scrolling gameplay is unchanged and stays as demanding as the original coin-op versions. You can pick between retro 2D pixel graphics with the classic music or the new hi-res 3D graphics with reworked music and sound effects, and swap between the two at any point during play with a single button.
Playing with a friend
Both game modes can be played solo or in local multiplayer with a buddy. Co-op mode lets you decide how you want to fly together: turn collision off to play friendly, or flip it on for competitive play. Remote Play Together is available, so a friend can join in over the internet.
Modes and tools
Infinite mode gives you unlimited ships for continuous progress from the start to the final boss, and it includes stage select so you can practice specific levels or jump straight to the ones you want. Classic mode plays R-Type and R-Type II the way the original versions did. During a run you have a slow-motion button to work through dense bullet patterns, a fast-forward button to speed things up, and in Infinite mode a single button to power your ship up to maximum. The game runs at 1080p.
