What Pocky & Rocky Reshrined is
Pocky & Rocky Reshrined is a top-down shooter built in the style of 16-bit games. It is a completely new sequel to the SNES game "Pocky & Rocky", made by TENGO PROJECT, a team at NatsumeAtari put together from the original developers of "Pocky & Rocky". The pixel graphics, sound and music keep the classic look while being updated for current hardware. You play through the adventures of Pocky & Rocky as a shrine maiden shooter, moving through stages and clearing out enemies with your shots.
Playing it with friends
The game has 2-player cooperative play in Free Mode, so two of you can run a stage side by side. Free Mode unlocks once you clear Story Mode or once you have collected more than 10,000 coins, and in it you pick which character you play as. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, which lets someone join from their own machine while you host. Local multiplayer and local co-op are listed as features, so a group sitting around one setup can share the run.
Before you start
Story Mode comes with an Extra Easy Mode. You unlock it by collecting a certain amount of coins from defeated enemies, which makes the game approachable for people who do not usually get on with shooting games and want to see it through to the end. Coins matter beyond that too, since the 10,000-coin threshold is what opens Free Mode if you would rather not finish Story Mode first. Expect a shoot 'em up with a cute surface and a demanding core: enemies come at you from all directions in top-down stages, and the difficulty is part of the design. A controller is listed as supported, which suits the arcade-style play better than a keyboard.
