A real-time tactics classic set in Rome
Praetorians - HD Remaster is a real-time strategy game set during the rise of the Roman Empire. The original has been reworked in high definition with updated controls and a new interface. You command armies across more than 20 campaign missions that take place in Egypt, Gaul, and Italy, working your way toward the throne. The Empire is defended by thousands of troop types and war machines, each with its own strengths, so victory comes from combining your units and targeting the weaknesses of the enemy. The Praetorian Guard waits at the end as the deadliest force in the Empire.
Playing together with your group
The game includes online PvP, so you and your friends can face each other in multiplayer matches. Each player picks one of three armies: the Gauls, the Egyptians, or the Roman Legions. All three have their own strengths and weaknesses, which gives you room to build different play styles and matchups when you play against each other.
What to know before you start
Every army comes with unique abilities and formations for different unit types and characters, so learning what your chosen faction can do matters as much as raw numbers. Terrain plays a real role too: hills, open ground, and other landscapes change how you plan a fight, and using the map well is part of winning. Expect a game that rewards combining units and reading the enemy rather than simply sending everything forward at once.
