A co-op platform adventure on an unknown planet

POPUCOM is a multiplayer co-op platform adventure where you and your friends are summoned to an unknown planet as adventurers. The goal is to push forward through the stages, take on the enemies you meet along the way, and restore the world to its former glory. It plays out in 3D with a cartoony, futuristic look, and it mixes platforming, puzzles and shooting rather than sticking to one of them. The store text is clear on one point: cooperation is the only way forward, so expect to rely on each other for both fights and puzzles.

Color switching and match-3 shooting

Color is the core mechanic. You switch your own color to activate mechanisms and solve puzzles, and you shoot Pomu gel in different colors to change the surroundings and affect enemies. Matching colors is what makes the shooting work, so fights and puzzle rooms both come down to reading the colors in front of you and switching at the right moment. Along the way you collect super artifacts, each with its own ability: Rollo the Bomb, Captain Kitty, Barrier Bot and Power Kid. Those abilities clear obstacles and open up puzzle solutions, so which artifact you have in hand changes how a room can be handled.

What to know before starting

The game supports Online Co-op and Remote Play Together, so you can team up with friends over the internet or share a session locally. Team-based play is baked into the design: powerful enemies and complex puzzles are meant to be tackled together, and the party needs to coordinate colors, artifact use and positioning to get through. Between the main stages there is an in-game arcade room with mini-games for a break, and the Closet lets you combine gear and cosmetics so each adventurer has their own look before setting out. Expect a mix of action, platforming and puzzle solving rather than a straight shooter, and expect to talk to your group about who switches to which color.
