A Persona 4 fighting game
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax takes the cast of the Persona 4 series and turns them into a 2D fighter. The heroes end up in the P-1 CLIMAX, an arena where they fight an army of Shadows. This version includes all previously released content for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, plus the original Persona 4 Arena story, so the fighting sits alongside a substantial story mode. Expect a colorful anime presentation, a visual novel side to the narrative, and a soundtrack that carries through the whole package. You can pick Japanese or English voice acting.
Playing with friends
The roster is broad, pulling in Persona 3 favorites alongside the Persona 4 crew, and Shadow versions of characters give you alternate fighting styles to learn. For a group session, you can fight each other in local multiplayer on one machine, or take the fight online with PvP. Remote Play Together is also supported, so one person can host and others join in over the internet as if they were sitting at the same screen. Steam Achievements and Trading Cards are there to work through alongside the matches.
Before you start
Like other 2D fighters, the depth comes from the roster: each character has their own moveset and their Shadow version plays differently from the standard one, so expect some time spent in practice before you are comfortable picking up a new main. The story content is worth reading if you care about the Persona 4 cast, and it doubles as context for the fighters you will be using. Note that the game may be updated over time, with both free and paid additional content released for it, and those updates can raise the minimum system requirements above what was originally stated.
