What Pavlov is

Pavlov is a VR multiplayer shooter built around realistic weapon handling and fast fights. Reloading is done by hand, so you work the magazine, slide, and controls yourself instead of pressing a button. Matches take place in modern and WWII settings, and the game covers a range of modes: Search And Destroy, Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and Gun Game. Alongside the standard multiplayer options there is an offline mode, a practice range, and a killhouse for working on your aim and reloads without anyone shooting back. Tanks are operated by a crew, with each person handling a real position in the vehicle.

Playing with your group

You can jump into quick matches through the developer hosted lobby system, or pick a community hosted dedicated server if you want a specific mode or map. Communication is a big part of the round: proximity voice chat lets you talk to whoever is near you, and radio chat keeps the whole team in contact. Team-based modes reward calling out positions and coordinating pushes, while Deathmatch and Gun Game let everyone run their own game. If your group wants something unusual, custom map support through the modkit and custom game mode support mean you can build your own rules and arenas and play them together.

Before you start

This is a VR game, so you need a headset and enough room to move your arms for reloading and aiming. Expect violent combat with gore, and a community that leans into memes and lighter moments between rounds. The realistic reloading takes some practice; the practice range and killhouse are there for that. Bots are available if you want to fill out a session or warm up. Server choice matters: community hosted servers may run custom maps and modes, so a session can look quite different from a standard lobby.
