Paint the arena in a top-down shooter

Paint Chips is an online 2D top-down shooter where you splatter other players with paint. Matches run on unique maps, and you fight across them for control of the ground as much as for the players themselves. Before a match starts, everyone votes for the map and gametype they want to play next, so the session follows what your group feels like doing.

Six gametypes change the loadouts: Paintmatch is regular painting and chipping, Shockets hands everyone rocket launchers and shotguns, Swipers gives swords and snipers, Sprinkbows gives sprinklers and paintbows, Blasterfight gives blasters, and Mystery hands out random weapons each time.

Playing together with friends

Four PvP playlists decide how teams are formed: FFA with no teams, Team as 4 vs 4, Doubles as 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2, and Big Team as 8 vs 8. Matches support up to 8-16 players, and you can group up with your friends to paint it up together. You can also host custom private matches of your own, or test your skill against bots when nobody else is on.

Outside of PvP there is the Chippingrounds co-op playlist, where you fight waves of monsters and bosses together. That is the mode for groups that want to push through rounds as a team instead of fighting each other.

Earning and customizing

Everything you do earns Chips, which you spend in the shop on items you like. There are more than 300 character customization options, so you can build a look that stands out from the rest of the lobby. Daily and weekly challenges hand out extra Chips, and there is a weekly leaderboard to fight for the top spot on.

Controller support is included, and the game is free to play, so getting a group in is quick. Pick your playlist, vote on the map, and start painting.
