Chipping bosses apart pixel by pixel
Chippy is a twin-stick bullet-hell shooter from Facepunch Studios where you take on over 14 challenging multi-phase bosses. The twist is that the bosses are made of destructible pixels, so you chip them apart piece by piece, slice off sections, and destroy their cores rather than just draining a health bar. It runs as a 2D top-down shooter with pixel graphics and an abstract, colorful look, and it sits in the Action and Indie genres. A variety of powerups let you pick offensive or defensive options depending on your skill level, and the campaign comes in Easy and Nightmare versions so you can set the pressure where you want it.
Playing together with your group
Local co-op is supported for every boss, so you and a friend can team up and split the work of dodging, shooting, and carving up a boss. Remote Play Together is also listed as a Steam feature, which gives your group another way to join in. When you are not playing together, the leaderboards use a simple scoring system where the fastest time wins, and you can watch replays from other players to pick up their tricks.
Before you start
Expect a difficult game: the tags include Difficult, Bullet Hell, and Shoot 'Em Up, so the bosses will demand solid dodging and shooting. Replays can be sped up, slowed down, or hijacked for practice, which is a useful way to learn a phase before committing a run. Steam Workshop support covers custom stages, and the game is tagged Moddable if you want to go further with community content.
