A five-minute retro nightmare

ODDCORE is a first-person shooter built around one hard rule: you have five minutes before you die. You move through hordes of corrupted entities, blowing them apart with a rotating cast of weapons and gadgets while a timer counts down. The look is retro and cartoony, the spaces are liminal and unsettling, and the combat leans into bullet-hell density with arena-style PvE encounters. Runs are roguelike in structure, so each attempt hands you a different spread of the 140+ stackable items and 100+ variants to build around. Perma-death is part of the deal, and the timer never stops, so momentum matters more than careful planning.

How a group plays it together

The Steam features list Remote Play Together, which lets friends join your session over a network connection. The store text also lists Singleplayer among its tags, so the core design is one player at a time with others watching or joining through Remote Play. Timmee is present as a helper during runs. The hub world and arcade hold classic minigames that pay out extra prizes between runs, and the sandbox editor lets you build custom levels to share with the group. Leaderboards track objectives of all types, so friends can compare results on the same challenges.

What to know before starting

ODDCORE is in Early Access at version 0.4, which means content and systems can shift as development continues. The current build includes 13 weapons, 10 gadgets, 35+ entities with distinct behaviors, and 12 boss battles. The 13 soundtrack cassettes each change how a run plays, and you can import your own music to generate a cassette with randomized stats derived from the file, turning your playlist into a build decision. There are 52 achievements to chase. One warning matters before you launch: the game contains flashing effects that may not suit people with photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitive conditions.
