A Forgotten Realms campaign with plenty of content

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is a Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game set in the Forgotten Realms. You create a hero — a rogue, a sorcerer, a paladin, or something else — and play through the original Neverwinter Nights campaign, which sends you through cities, dungeons, and wilderness in search of a cure for a plague. On top of that you get the Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark expansion packs, plus three premium modules: Kingmaker, ShadowGuard, and Witch's Wake. Together that's over 100 hours of adventures, with the premium modules alone accounting for more than 40 hours.

Playing with your friends

The multiplayer system has been rebuilt, which makes it straightforward to jump into online persistent worlds or to play with friends. Combat runs in real-time with pause, so a group can coordinate on when to stop and plan their next move. The Dungeon Master Client lets one person act as the storyteller, controlling monsters, creatures, and characters that the other players meet during an adventure. There's also online PvP available alongside the co-op play.

Building your own worlds

The Aurora Toolset lets you construct your own module with custom monsters, items, traps, encounters, and settings, then share it with the community. It's Windows only. Creators get quality-of-life improvements, shaders, filters, texture maps, and a new material system for making models and modules. Saves, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights still work here, so a large library of community-created content carries over.

Enhanced features worth knowing

The interface scales with your resolution, including 1080p and 4k, so portraits, the combat bar, and inventory stay readable. Pixel shaders and post-processing effects sharpen the visuals, and you can turn on contrast, vibrance, and depth of field as you like. Fan-requested improvements were curated with members of the Neverwinter Nights community alongside the original developers.
