A puzzle platformer in a strange world

NEONomicon drops your Hero into a dark room with no explanation of where they are or what to do. The game never tells you what to do either. Its advice is limited to a few rules: do not touch sharp objects, beware of strange creatures, and don't go in the dark. Beyond that, you work things out yourself. It is a minimalistic 2D puzzle platformer where solving each screen takes more than quick reflexes. Observation, caution, and figuring out the strange laws of this reality matter as much as your movement. The world is mysterious, the enemies are treacherous, and things rarely work the way you expect.

Playing together with friends

The game supports Remote Play Together, so friends can join in from their own machines while one person owns it. The store text is blunt about what company is worth here: the help of friends is more dangerous than the attack of enemies. That warning applies directly to a group session. Everyone watching the same tricky situation will have an idea, and acting on the wrong one can send the Hero into sharp objects, strange creatures, or the dark. Coordinating who calls the shots keeps a run from turning into a pile of bad suggestions.

Before you start

Go in expecting to be lost at first. Nobody marks the goal, and the opening rules are deliberately thin. Patience matters more than speed: rushing into an unfamiliar room is how the Hero gets eaten, and even then you have two choices. Treat each death as information about how this reality works rather than as a failure. Keep the group's chatter focused on what you actually see on screen, since the puzzles reward careful looking over confident guessing.
