What MicroWorks is
MicroWorks is a party game where up to 16 players run through a constant stream of fast microgames, then finish each match with a boss stage. The action takes place in the Nexus, a central hub made of small game towers. Microgames cover a wide range of tasks: dodging killer turrets, getting through obstacle courses, answering trivia riddles, or simply grouping up with someone while other players shove you away from the objective. There are nearly 150 microgame variations, and each match throws random modifiers at you, such as Arguments or Special Rounds, so no two rounds play the same.
How a group plays together
Everyone competes for points on a shared scoreboard. You score by finishing microgames faster and better than the other players, and the standings shift constantly as the round goes on. Every match ends with a boss stage, a bigger and longer minigame on its own stage, where you can farm score for a last-ditch push to the top. Boss stages include ghost hunting, kart racing, and wild west standoffs, with 15 in total. Gamemodes include Scorematch, where the highest score wins, and Survival, where failing means elimination and the last player standing takes it. Team variants of these modes are available as well.
Before you start
MicroWorks has a lot of moving parts, so expect the pace to be quick and the rules to change between rounds. Character customization is part of the mix, and Steam integration covers achievements, high scores, and leaderboards. The Party Pass DLC adds extra customization options and gameplay features, including private hosting with full server settings, mutators for adjusting microgames and speedups or excluding specific content, custom emotes built from your own images, Workshop cosmetics made from any 3D model, and the Boss Rush gamemode, which skips microgames entirely and runs boss stages back to back.
