Go-kart racing with a cast of cats

Meow Motors is a casual go-kart racer from ArtVostok where you drive as one of a dozen colorful cats, each with their own characteristics and personality. The tracks throw hazards at you, so you need to drift through mines and bombs while keeping your speed up. Along the way you grab power-ups and weapons to stop or slow the competition. The weapon list runs from a nut-thrower and a bubble gun up to a shark bazooka, and you can also store energy to charge a power-up for a stronger effect. Overtaking and drifting earn bonuses you can spend on speed-ups or oil that messes with an opponent's control.

Playing together in the same room

The game supports local split-screen multiplayer for up to 4 people on one device, so you and three friends can race against each other on the same screen. There is also a storyline campaign to work through on your own, where you pick up new teammates, cars and power-ups as you go and take on Master Duke to uncover his mystery. Remote Play Together is available if you want to bring someone in over a connection instead of sharing a couch.

What to know before you start

Races come in three modes: circle races, drifts and 'strike' mode, and you need to combine your power-ups with your own driving skills to make the most of stored energy. There are 20 tracks to learn and 10 kitties with unique abilities, so expect some variety in how each race plays out. The drifting is worth practicing since it both gets you through hazards and builds the bonuses you spend mid-race.
