What Lost Lives is
Lost Lives is a 2D side-scrolling shooter set in the early 2000s, after the collapse of the USSR, where scattered groups survive in the ruins of the former republics. You explore procedurally generated locations, fight AI and other players, collect loot and develop your character. Layouts, loot placement, AI behavior and time of day vary between sessions on select maps, so runs rarely play out the same way twice. The world also has dynamic weather: a day-night cycle, rain and fog that change how a location feels to move through.
Playing with your group
Co-op against bots supports 1–4 players, which is the straightforward way to team up. If you want to shoot each other instead, Deathmatch PvP and Team Deathmatch are there, plus Gun Game. Endless waves of enemies covers the survival side. Communication is built in: proximity chat for talking to players near you and a radio mode for team talk. Bots act situationally — they advance, retreat, take cover, surrender, heal, throw grenades and operate in groups — so co-op fights keep you on your toes even without other players around.
Before you start
Gear decides fights. Body armor, helmets and backpacks come in various classes, and armor level plus ammunition type determine the outcome of an encounter. Weapons span NATO and Warsaw Pact stock with different recoil, accuracy and handling, alongside armor-piercing rounds, grenades and modifications. Loot comes from the Soviet and post-Soviet era; you sell or trade it to fund better equipment. Progression is steady rather than gated: daily tasks refresh every day and feed overall progression, leaderboards run separate PvE and PvP rankings with seasons, and clothing and cosmetic items unlock as you play. The game is in Early Access, so expect things to shift during development.
