What Brain / Out is
Brain / Out is a 2D side-scrolling shooter with pixel graphics and a post-Soviet, post-apocalyptic setting. Mercenaries and Marauders fight across a former Soviet republic, and they fight for cash rather than ideals: staying alive and getting kills is how you earn money. The game runs on online PvP matches, with a singleplayer mode also listed among the tags. The tone is run-and-gun — fast movement, fast shooting, and a lot of ways to die.
Playing it with your group
You drop into online PvP battles alongside other players, so a group of friends can jump into the same matches and fight as a team. The tags include Co-op and Local Multiplayer, so there are ways to play together beyond random matchmaking. Matches are side-scrolling and 2D, which keeps the action readable: you can see the lanes of a map, where cover sits, and where an enemy is pushing from. Communication matters here — calling out a flank or a mine placement saves lives more than raw aim does.
Weapons and loadouts
The arsenal covers NATO and Warsaw Pact rifles, shotguns, pistols, sniper rifles and melee weapons. You can modify weapons with scopes, handles, barrels, receivers, mounts and bars, which changes weapon stats. Trophies you collect can be disassembled for new parts, and that raises your Tech level. Beyond guns, you get bulletproof vests and helmets, stun and frag grenades, under-barrel grenade launchers and anti-personnel mines. Melee is a real option: the knife can end a fight without firing a round.
Before you start
Skill matters more than gear. The game states there is no pay-to-win element, and a well-equipped enemy can still lose to a better fighter. Better performance unlocks more weapons, and reaching the TOP 100 earns a unique weapon set. Expect violence and gore — the tags list both. Pick a loadout that suits how you move, learn the maps, and spend your earnings on parts rather than hoarding them.
